Empower Yourself to Wellness
Take care of YOU.
Lisa Lent's integrative and therapeutic techniques are focused in serving people with constant and chronic neck, lower back, and hip pain, and those suffering from emotional issues of anxiety, depression and other chronic generalized day-to-day stress-related dilemmas.
She is classically trained in the Swedish and Traditional Chinese Medicine modalities and honoring their basic principals. Her techniques raise awareness of stored and subconscious stress and tension in order to release it and feel revitalized. Since no person is the same, not one massage treatment is the same. She refers to her massage as "intuitive" for reasons that become obvious when people receive her work.
The Basics: Your Nervous System
With all the stressful pressures on most people nowadays, it is very easy for us to get stuck in the stress-inducing “Fight or Flight” Sympathetic Nervous System which is depleting. Swedish style massage allows getting unstuck, and activates the “Rest and Repair” Parasympathetic Nervous System function. Here we can relax, replenish, and feel that deep sense of calmness and vitality. Here we can learn where we hold tension, and then teach the body how to let that tension go.
Treating chronic neck, lower back, and hip pain and muscular tension, migraines and tension headaches, stress and anxiety reduction, and alleviating arthritic pain.

Who You Are & Your Preferences Matter
Every person has different expectations and thresholds for pain.
As a general rule, I do not like to hurt my clients and communication is very important to me. I listen to your needs and my hands tell me the information I need to give you exactly the pressure and techniques I sense are required to maximize healing, repair, and a sense of well being. I will check in with you to ensure you are satisfied with my techniques and pressure. My pressure ranges from light to deep, and it all depends on every part of you and your personal preferences, not what I believe is “for your own good”. What makes me effective, is that I actually listen and respond to your words, as well as your body.
My 30,45, 60, 90, 120 minute sessions are true time, unlike other spas that often offer only 50 minutes of “table time” for a 60minute session, and often feels rushed before and after the session.
My Massage Style and Focus
To inspire and empower people to respect how they feel, because what you feel matters...
Since no person is the same, not one massage treatment is the same.
I read with my hands and get inspired from the feedback feel. I do not just treat the body, as if it were mere physical form. I treat the body as a whole person.
I usually find "the right spots" without ever being told where. When your passion is helping people feel better, you just know.
My integrative bodywork techniques are focused in helping the many with chronic neck, lower back, and hip pain, and those suffering from emotional issues of anxiety, depression and other chronic generalized day-to-day stress-related dilemmas.
I believe that massage doesn't need to hurt in order to be profoundly effective. Respecting boundaries and limitations of my clients pain-threshold is a serious matter. I am opposed to inflicting pain because it's "good for you". The body knows it's limits, and I pride myself in respecting that.
Classically trained in Swedish and Asian, Reiki and IET modalities; I will channel energetic healing work into each customized massage, as requested.
About Swedish Style Massage:
Swedish massage can increase one’s flexibility because it stretches the ligaments and tendons, and Swedish massage is specifically designed to relax the entire body through continuous contact full of grace and intention. This holistic and classically therapeutic approach helps flush the body tissues of uric and lactic acid and other metabolic waste. Since Swedish Massage has detoxifying effects, it is important to drink plenty of water after a massage treatment.
Swedish Massage Therapy Techniques
Effleurage massage strokes In Swedish massage, the effleurage strokes include long gliding strokes that go from the neck down to the base of the spine and/or from the shoulder to the fingertips. All of these strokes should always go towards the heart to aid blood and lymphatic flow. These long strokes are done to the entire body (limbs, back, etc.) The masseur or massage therapist will use his or her whole hand or thumb pads to do this stroke, it is sure to relax anyone.
Petrissage massage strokes In Swedish massage, the petrissage massage stroke goes deeper, and is meant to gently lift muscles up and away from the bone. Then the muscles are gently rolled and squeezed. The kneading and compression motions are to stimulate circulation deep in the muscles. By increasing the circulation this stroke helps clear out toxins from the muscles and nerve tissue.
Friction massage strokes The friction massage stroke in Swedish massage therapy is the deepest penetrating stroke. The masseur or massage therapist will make deep circular and/or transverse movements with their thumb pads or fingertips. This stroke is used near joints and other bony areas such as the side of your spine. When a muscle heals the muscle fibers bond together causing knots (also called adhesions). The friction from this stroke breaks down the adhesions, thus relieving pain and improving the flexibility of your muscles and joints.
Tapotement massage strokes In Swedish massage, the tapotement strokes are better known to ordinary people as the karate chop, since you use your hands to alternately strike or tap the muscles for an invigorating effect. There are variations to this stroke, though the variations are just how your hand is when you strike: Open or closed fist, with the side of the hand or fingertips. It is a good stroke to use on tense, spasming or cramping muscles. Shaking or vibration stroke is not really a stroke, but that is what they call it.
About Asian Style Massage
Asian bodywork uses gentle hand and finger pressure along the body’s energy channels. The objective is to restore and balance the flow of the energy meridians throughout the body. There are many types of Asian bodywork, I use basic acupressure and energetic principals of Classic Traditional Chinese Medicine and integrate them into my Classic Swedish technique providing a thorough and integrative, powerfully effective massage treatment.
About IET Energywork
Integrated Energy Therapy® (IET®) is one of the next generation – hands on – power energy therapy systems that get the “issues out of your tissues”. Similar to Reiki, IET is an energetic modality, gentle for anyone who isn't comfortable with pressure, or is uncomfortable with the more traditional Swedish Technique. It is deeply healing, and relaxing.
About Reiki Energywork
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."
